Questions & Answers:
| Q: Why do I have to switch to EOR respite? | A: Respite is a service that received federal matching dollars. That means, for every dollar the Regional Center spends on respite, the federal government matches that dollar. The federal government now requires that respite be administred by an agency. Therefore, if the Regional Center does not switch all of you, then they will lose half of their funding for respite. |
| Q: What is Employer of Record respite? | A: Bay Respite Care becomes your Respite Worker's employer. We will hire them, pay them, issue a W2, and deactivate them when you no longer want to use them. You still choose who is your worker, you train that person on how you want your child taken care of, and you schedule your respite bookings directly with them. |
| Q: How do I sign up for your service? | A: 1- the Regional Center must send us referral. 2- we'll mail you a sign-up packet to fill out and an employee packet. Give the employee packet to your respite worker. 3- fill out your packet and mail it to us. 4- your worker fills out their packet and gets fingerprinted. 5- your worker returns their packet and fingerprinting paperwork. 6- we process your paperwork and hire your respite worker. 7- if we have a current authorization in place, you can begin to use your services! |
| Q: Can we meet you? | A: Of course! Our office is located in Vallejo- just a short drive from the Concord/Richmond area. If you live farther away, we are holding orientations in October & November in Concord, Richmond, Brentwood and Livermore. |
| Q: When and where are these orientations? Do I have to attend? | A: The four cities are: Concord, Richmond, Brentwood and Livermore. CLICK HERE for the dates and addresses. Make sure you call the office to let us know if you are going to attend; but, you are not required to attend. |
| Q: I saw on your website the term "Self-Service Respite". What is that? | A: At Bay Respite Care, we call Employer of Record respite "Self-Service Respite", since you need to find your own workers. |
| Q: How does my worker get fingerprinted? | A: Included in your employee's hiring packet is a list of LiveScan locations and the fingerprinting form. They will need to pay the rolling fee (generally $20 and under). If they return the receipt to us, we will reimburse this cost. |
| Q: What is this stuff about CPR and First Aid? | A: Title 17 in the California Code of Regulations requires that all Respite Care Providers have CPR and First Aid. Your Respite Care Provider has 90 days to complete this training from their date of hire. We currently offer classes in Vallejo and Santa Rosa. Starting in November, will will also offer classes in Concord, Richmond, Brentwood and Livermore. These classes are free to our employees. Click HERE for our schedule. |
| Q: How many workers may I have? | A: We will hire as many workers as you'd like. There is no cap. |
| Q: Do you have any previous experience with EOR? | A: Bay Respite Care has been providing EOR respite services to North Bay Regional Center for over 5 years. We have been providing Agency respite (or Full-Service Respite) for over 30 years. We currently serve 6 bay area counties, as well as parts of the Sacramento Valley. We are a local agency! |
